Moussa Dembele has credited Brendan Rodgers with transforming his game.

Yesterday against St Mirren the former Fulham striker took his total for the season to 32 with his own success going hand in hand with the club’s treble bid.

Dembele was Rodgers’ first signing and instantly spoke about his ambition to play in the Champions League.

After two seasons of brutal failure to reach the group phase it seemed like wishful thinking on the part of the French kid but by Christmas time his name was known across Europe after scoring three times in the Champions League.

Dembele’s form has attracted interest from the biggest club’s in the game but there is no rush from the striker to grab a deal that would treble his current pay packet.

In the last 12 months I have improved every aspect of my game,” the striker told The Evening Times. “I have worked hard at it but since working with the manager, I think my awareness has got much better.

That is not the only thing. There are other areas that I have got better at – my whole game is better now than what it was this time last season. That is what the manager has helped me with. He has worked with me a lot on the training ground and I feel as though I am getting better all the time.

I want to keep pushing. I want keep getting better and I feel as though I can do that here.

I was always confident that I would come here and score goals. I have always believed in my ability. But I am a better player than what I was this time 12 months ago, that is for sure.”

Over the last month, in six matches, Dembele has scored 12 times in six matches since appearing as a half-time substitute away to St Johnstone.
