Neil Lennon had the Celtic connection to thank as Hibs took a massive step towards returning to the Premiership.

Efe Ambrose and James Keatings scored in the closing minutes to beat Falkirk 2-1 and go 10 points clear of the Bairns and Morton who lost 1-0 at home to Dunfermline.

On Tuesday Hibs are at home to Morton with a win putting Lennon’s side 13 points ahead of the Greenock side who have seven matches left to play.

It was tight and tense at Easter Road today until Ambrose broke the deadlock in the 75th minute.

Falkirk equalised two minutes later through Craig Sibbald but in stoppage time substitute Keatings won the points to the delight of the bulk of the 16,000 fans inside Easter Road.

Lennon is in his first season in charge of Hibs and remains on course for a promotion and Scottish Cup double with Aberdeen standing between the Edinburgh side and the Scottish Cup Final.
