Next Sunday Celtic will look to clinch the SPFL title with a win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

The issue could be decided on Friday if Aberdeen lose at Dundee but with title number six completed the countdown to 10-in-a-row is well underway.

There will be plenty of speculation about who will be playing and managing if Celtic are going for the 10, this article takes a look backwards to 2012 and the men that clinched the first title of this run at Rugby Park.

Emilio Izaguirre, Victor Wanyama and Efe Ambrose were missing from that side with the pace of change notable even over such a short space of time.

At Tynecastle next week only two players are likely to have survived from the team that won the SPL with a resounding 6-0 win over Kilmarnock as they virtually handed Rugby Park over to visiting fans.

The bulk of the side that won the 2012 SPL title were in their second season at the club, it was certainly Neil Lennon’s team but it’ll be another Irishman in charge at Tynecastle as another era opens up

FRASER FORSTER

Came of age during the season with a vital penalty save against Hearts before Christmas a big factor in turning the tide.

He stayed around for another two title medals before moving on, early in the Ronny Deila era to Southampton after making England’s 2014 World Cup squad.

Forster is still in the England squad and full recovered from a bad injury which robbed him of nine months. Ronald Koeman appears keen to take him to Everton.

ADAM MATTHEWS

Made over 40 appearances in the league winning season and seemed destined for great things, at Celtic or elsewhere.

The arrival of Mikael Lustig provided competition but the Swede took charge with Matthews leaving in 2015 with four title medals.

Moving to Sunderland has proved to be a disaster with more time spent on loan at Bristol City, this year will be a crossroads for his career, at 25 years of age he should be getting close to his prime

GLENN LOOVENS

Made just 11 SPL appearances in the title winning season but was on the score-sheet at Rugby Park.

He joined from Cardiff in 2008, failed to really challenge the McManus and Caldwell partnership and left on a Bosman at the end of his contract.

After a season in La Liga with Zaragoza he is now captaining Sheffield Wednesday as they challenge for a Premier League place.

KELVIN WILSON

Another strange and brief Celtic career, he had a ropey first season, excellent second term, looked at ease in the Champions League in his third season then returned to Notts Forest.

During the title winning season he was outstanding, developing a good partnership with Efe Ambrose that held up well in the Champions League.

His return to Forest never really worked out, a move to Rotherham at the start of the season has looked another poor call, at 31 it looks like his best days were at Celtic Park.

CHARLIE MULGREW

Was in great form as the title was won, scoring at Rugby Park and picking up the main Player of the Year awards.

He was Neil Lennon’s first signing, a big player in the first three title but never quite seemed the same under Ronny Deila.

There was confusion during the summer after he got an offer from Brendan Rodgers but eventually moved on to Blackburn where he is playing regular under former Celtic manager Tony Mowbray.

KI SUNG YUENG

This was to be his first and last title success with a £6m move to Swansea following soon after the season ended.

Ki played a big part in the way Neil Lennon turned the side around with the midfield options involving Ki, Beram Kayal, Victor Wanyama and Joe Ledley a real strength.

He is in his fifth season at Swansea, split by a loan season at Sunderland with over 100 Premier League appearances and a League Cup winners medal with the Welsh side.

SCOTT BROWN

What more can be said for the skipper? Will he be the first Celt to win the league under four different managers with medals collected with Gordon Strachan, Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila.

A year ago some fans were writing Broony off but it seems that dinner with Brendan Rodgers has proved inspirational.

This season has probably been his best for the club, as well as his leadership qualities every playing aspect of his game seems to have improved.

JOE LEDLEY

Another of Lennon’s exceptional early signings, the midfielder arrived on a Bosman from Cardiff with his derby day winner in December 2011 taking the hoops to the top of the table.

Midway through title number three he was sold for £800,000 to Crystal Palace shortly after the signing of Stefan Johansen.

While his appearances for Palace have been more limited he is a key figure for Wales, recovering from a leg break to make it to last year’s European Championships.

KRIS COMMONS

His Celtic career could be described as up and down- strangely the title winning season was a low point although his opening goal of the campaign a few weeks later against Rangers (IL) was almost worth the wait.

He scored an impressive 27 SPL goals from 32 appearances in 2013/14 as Neil Lennon signed off with a third title.

His profile was reduced under Ronny Deila, with Brendan Rodgers it seems unlikely that he’ll make a single first team appearance as a six and a half year Celtic career ends quietly.

GEORGIOS SAMARAS

One of the games great survivors he was a great favourite of Lennon who took him out of the firing line to be an unorthodox but very effective left sided midfielder.

His Celtic career ended alongside Lennon with his career meandering much like his trade mark runs from deep.

After a stint at West Brom he has recently resurfaced with Real Zaragoza in the Spanish second division but it looks like his heart is no longer in it.

GARY HOOPER

A striker’s striker. He scored twice in the title success and finished the season scoring all the goals in a 5-0 win over Hearts.

The goals continued the following season, scoring home and away against Spartak Moscow and signing off with a double in the Scottish Cup Final win over Hibs.

Life after Celtic has been a let down, it never happened for him at Norwich with his last match for Sheffield Wednesday coming in November.

ANDRE BLACKMAN

His autobiography should be a cracker- a google check reveals some lively tales.

He made his debut with Mikael Lustig at Pittodrie a month earlier but both careers moved off in different directions.

Blackman replaced Charlie Mulgrew late in the second half at Rugby Park, this season at Crawley he has been sent off twice and booked eight times in 27 appearances.

FILIP TWARDZIK

Filip Twardzik Celtic newsHe looked to have everything, a potential number 10 who didn’t look out of his depth playing in the second half at Rugby Park.

An 18 month spell on the sidelines with various muscle problems robbed him of the key period in his Celtic career.

He followed Neil Lennon to Bolton but after negotiating his release at the start of this season he hasn’t yet been fixed up at another club.

ANTHONY STOKES

A maverick, among other things. Earlier in the season he played a crucial role salvaging a point and Lennon’s job in a 3-3 draw at Killie.

He picked up four league winners medals but post Lennon his days were numbered with the second part of last season spent winning the Scottish Cup for Hibs..

Brendan Rodgers quickly dismissed Stokes despite his Scottish Cup winning role, a move to Blackburn hasn’t worked out with Tony Mowbray body swerving the former Celt.
