Sevco management target Pedro Caixinha wants to make his debut away to Celtic.

According to a report in the Daily Record, the man known as the Pink Sombrero in his native Portugal, wants to jet in to Glasgow this weekend to prepare Andy Halliday and Lee Wallace for the fourth Glasgow derby of the season.

Caixinha was in charge of Al Gharafa for their 3-2 defeat from lowly Al Sailiya last night but is already planning on the downfall of Brendan Rodgers.

The 48-year-old has had one season managing in Europe but wants to take advantage of a month long break in the Qatar Super League to keep Sevco’s title hopes alive with a win over Celtic.

According to The Record: “A source close to the deal said last night: “Caixinha had to focus on the game against Al-Sailiya but now his attention is on getting to Glasgow as quickly as possible.

If Rangers make a reasonable offer as quickly as possible then he believes Al-Gharafa will not stand in his way. He will lose a lot of Euros by ending his contract early but that is not his priority now.

His priority is to get to work in Glasgow as quickly as possible and to prepare the team for the game against Celtic. Ideally, he would like to fly to Scotland on Monday but even if he does not arrive until Tuesday at least he still has a few days to get to know the players. “

In the match programme against St Johnstone Ibrox chief Stewart Robertson promised the gullibles that he was interviewing outstanding candidates and that Mark Warburton’s successor would be a proven winner.

Good luck selling that one Robbo!
