Clint Hill as admitted that ‘he got lucky’ with the last minute foul on Leigh Griffiths that should have given Celtic a penalty.

As stoppage time approached the Celtic striker escaped the close attention of his marker to get in position to shoot.

Preparing to shoot from 12 yards out Griffiths was chopped down by a late lunge from the 38-year-old but incredibly Bobby Madden decided to wave play on.

Asked if he had been lucky with the foul on Griffiths, Hill said: “Maybe, yeah, maybe, I think, it could have gone either way and being here at their place, nine times out of ten they might give it.

It was a last ditch everything to try and get the ball, I don’t know if I got it or not but hopefully we deserved a bit of luck over the course of the game.

You are always conscious of a last ditch tackle like that, in the area, thankfully for us it didn’t go and we got a bit of luck that I think we deserved over the course of 90 minutes.”

Despite the euphoria of snatching a 1-1 draw the result means that Sevco’s title hopes are over.

Graeme Murty’s team are 33 points behind Celtic with 10 matches left to play and eight points behind Aberdeen in the battle to finish a strong second.

The match was marred by poor refereeing decisions as Madden was taken well out of his comfort zone.

Several highly dangerous tackles went in on Celtic players largely unpunished with a yellow card appearing to be a licence to do anything with Madden keeping his red card out of use.
