Dave King has written off Sevco’s chances of winning NEXT season’s SPFL title.

Last summer the South African based criminal launched the #goingfor55 campaign with supporters buying in through season ticket sales.

Sevco started 2017 trailing Celtic by 19 points with that gap now standing at 33 and the ‘race’ officially over.

The appointment of Brother Pedro has restored confidence among the gullible but King has a downcast message ahead of the launch of next terms season tickets.

Speaking to The Sun he admitted: “I still think that we must challenge Celtic, as I expected to do this year. Aberdeen challenged them and got to within five or six weeks.

“It certainly wasn’t the race it was this year. I would like us to challenge Celtic.

Does it mean win the title next year? Of course it doesn’t but I would like to challenge Celtic and see some distance between ourselves and Aberdeen and Hearts because again investment will be made to do that.

“We are looking to get through the Europa League qualifiers, although there is an understanding that we are not there. We will have to look at investment for that as well.”

King’s bold plans are as useful as unaudited accounts.

As he talks of investment and future plans King overlooks the most glaring issue facing the company- the outcome of the Takeover Panel into his concert party takeover.

Unless he can find a NOMAD prepared to be associated with him, the South African based criminal faces complete ruin in the UK on April 12.

The phrase that will be used is ‘cold shoulder’ which means that all financial institutions will withdraw from partnerships.

Five years after formation the club is still with Metro Bank- the no questions asked and no overdraft offered organisation.
