Troubled Ibrox fans group Club 1872 have announced an emergency meeting on April 6 after being racked by resignations.
Three of the seven directors, all voted in last September, walked away earlier this month over splits among the group formed by merging Rangers First and the Rangers Supports Trust.
Dave King’s plan to keep the gullible happy with a shared blazer and monthly email seemed a master-stroke but from very early on they were riddled with in-fighting.
The departure of ‘three good bears’ caused a lot of anger among the membership on social media with less than 1,000 fans a month contributing £18.72 a month to purchase company shares.
Arranging a ‘clear the air’ meeting with less than a fortnight’s notice at a venue with limited capacity has added to concerns that Club 1872 has become just another clique rather than creating a vehicle for fan ownership.
With their independence seriously compromised it looks again like there will no supporter led organisation ready to come to the rescue when the current tribute act hits the buffers.
Meanwhile the appointment of a Director of Football looks like taking supporters attention away from the crisis over Dave King’s concert party takeover, Club 1872 have yet to comment on that development.
