Even when he is out injured Andy Halliday can’t stop thinking of Celtic.

Three times this season the midfield has pulled on the 32 Red jersey against the hoops and walked off a loser each time.

At the end of April Halliday, who was brought up on Copland Road as a die-hard fan, will be hoping to impress Brother Pedro into giving him a place in the team to play Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

With #goingfor55 consigned to the scrapheap and the League Cup resting in the Celtic boardroom Halliday’s new ambition is to stop the hoops moving to within touching distance of the treble.

Asked what it would mean to him to deny Celtic a clean sweep of honours the former Bradford ace told the Daily Record: “If it doesn’t give you that extra onus, to try and stop that, then you are obviously at the wrong club.

I’ve said it many times this season, you have to give Celtic credit – they’ve had a fantastic season. But it’s important that within ourselves as a group of players, we know we have the opportunity to stop that. So it’s going to be a massive game.

It’s the Old Firm, there is pressure on both teams all the time. I’m sure Celtic will have it in their mindset that they want to preserve their unbeaten run and get the treble.

It’s up to us to try and stop it. From our side of things, we want to win a Rangers trophy. We had a good year last season but if we are all admitting it, we never really won what you would call a Rangers trophy. So it’s our last chance this season to try and put that right.”

What a ‘Rangers trophy’ is is anyone’s guess.
