Brendan Rodgers is looking for a final push from his players- starting tonight at the only ground in Scotland where they’ve dropped points.

That September afternoon in Inverness seems like an age away with Celtic sweeping all before them since dropping two points to Richie Foran’s side.

Rodgers has been able to deliver consistency and quality on the park with a win tonight giving the hoops the chance to clinch the title later this month.

Looking ahead to tonight’s match the hoops boss told the club website: “The sign of a really good team that you are never satisfied, you have to keep pushing.

When I first came in I said to the players our job isn’t to defend the title, it’s to win it. Win it means to play with an aggression and fight in every single game.

That’s what they’ve done and they’ve been absolutely first-class at that. We’ve got to keep it going. We’ve got 12 games left in the league, and hopefully a few more cup games to go. I see the players still fresh in their mind, they’ve got that focus in their eyes and we’re seeing it in every game that we play.

We reflected on it (Inverness game) back then. You can’t over-analyse it, it’s gone. We’ve had many great games since then, big pressure games since then that we’ve won. It’s just one of those things that happen in football.”

Rodgers will be without James Forrest and Patrick Roberts tonight which looks like opening the door to Gary Mackay-Stevens.

A win tonight would take Celtic 27 points ahead of Aberdeen with 33 points left to play for.

Assuming that Derek McInnes’ side take full points from their home matches against Motherwell and Hearts, Celtic would need to beat Sevco and Dundee before having the chance to clinch the league at Tynecastle on Sunday April 2.
