Winning the first five

Celtic's title winning weekend will spark all sorts of celebrations, winning the title unbeaten is a great achievement as the pressure switches to completing the campaign unbeaten. With Celtic Park virtually a fortress the biggest threat to the unbeaten record lies on the road. If Tynecastle is survived on Sunday the post split visits to Aberdeen and Ibrox will be the biggest tests. First of all there is a title to be won, the sixth in succession with all hoops fans hoping that Aberdeen can win at Dundee tonight to provide the team with the chance to clinch the title on their own accord. On their current run two titles have been won on the road, two on home soil and the 2015 title won by Aberdeen losing at Dundee United while Ronny Deila's side enjoyed a day off. Of the titles won the first at Rugby Park was the sweetest, as the financial doping scandals across the city finally came home to roost there was an air of satisfaction that patience had finally paid off. Rugby Park was rammed with fans ready to celebrate capturing the title, the outcome was never in doubt with the big question now being asked is whether there is a seventh, eighth, ninth and magical tenth title still to come. KILMARNOCK 0-6 CELTIC- 7 APRIL 2012 A day hard to beat as the title was won without robbing Her Majesty. This one had been on the go for a while and took the hoops back to where they had lifted the title in 2004 and 2007. Three stands, and more, were rammed full of expectant Celtic fans and they weren't disappointed as the team took the title in style. The celebrations were long and loud- and some would say they are still going on after a summer of jelly and ice cream. CELTIC 4-1 INVERNESS CALEY THISTLE 21 APRIL 2013 After a goal-less first half Joe Ledley opened the scoring on route to a 4-1 win. The Sunday lunchtime kick off put a bit of a dampener on the celebrations but it had been an exceptional season- qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League with a Scottish Cup Final to look forward to. European distractions played their part with six draws and six defeats before the title was wrapped up- a more than acceptable trade off for a memorable Champions League campaign. PARTICK THISTLE 1-5 CELTIC- 26 MARCH 2014 Firhill for thrills, midweek in March with a title that was to be Neil Lennon's handover. Kris Commons had replaced the goals of Gary Hooper and struck 30 plus playing off the striker and was on the scoresheet at Firhill. Anthony Stokes opened the scoring in the fourth minute, a very youthful Liam Henderson scored his first Celtic goal and enjoyed his celebrations. DUNDEE UNITED 1-0 ABERDEEN- 2 MAY 2015 After beating Dundee on the Friday night the title was within touching distance. The next day a goal from Robbie Muirhead sent Aberdeen to defeat and the title was delivered by text message with a title clinching party postponed. Just for good measure Celtic won 1-0 up at Pittodrie the following week. The match was a great scrap but a brilliant goal from Scott Brown gave Celtic their fourth win of the season over Derek McInnes' side. CELTIC 3-2 ABERDEEN- 8 MAY 2016 Winning at Hearts the previous week gave the out of sorts hoops a 20 plus goals advantage although Aberdeen could match their points tally. Two early goals from Patrick Roberts suggested a romp with Mikael Lustig putting Celtic further in front early in the second half. Goals from Niall McGinn and Andrew Considine spread panic and killed off any emotional ideas of getting Ronny Deila to move on. A far from satisfying season salvaged by the goals of Leigh Griffiths.
