Kristoffer Ajer is confident that he’s on course for a call up to the Norwegian international side.

The on loan Celtic defender was name checked by Lars Lagerback as the Swede named his squad for next week’s World Cup qualifier away to Northern Ireland.

Ajer has made a big impact on loan at Kilmarnock with Brendan Rodgers insisting that he gets played in central defence.

We’ve a boy in Scotland for example, Kristoffer Ajer, who has done wonderfully well at just 18 years of age,” Lagerback said.

Ajer will be on u-19 duty for Norway next week and was delighted to hear that he is in the thoughts of his international boss.

Speaking to Norwegian website NTB Ajer said: “It’s great to be noticed, that only happens if you are performing consistently.

I’m not worried about getting called up to the A squad, we’ve gor important qualification games coming up for the u-19 side. There’s time in the future to get called into the A-team.”

Since moving to Kilmarnock Ajer has made eight first team appearances with the Ayrshire side relatively safe from the relegation and play-off spots in seventh place

A home win for Killie over Partick Thistle would take them into the top six in the table, one point ahead of Alan Archibald’s side.
