Celtic have added Nerang Eagles to their stable of partner clubs.

The Queensland based based outfit have announced the link up on their facebook page and will host a Celtic Coaching School from April 3-17 for kids aged 9-18.

With the success of Tom Rogic with the hoops it’s natural that the club wants to raise it’s profile across Australia which has become a great production line for players.

Mark Viduka and Harry Kewall led the way at the turn of the century with the Socceroos well established as World Cup regulars.

Rogic was spotted early in his career with Central Coast Mariners after coming to attention playing with the Nike Academy.

He joined Celtic in January 2013 and signed a new contract earlier this season after flourishing under Brendan Rodgers.

Discussing the formal ties with Celtic Eagles Coaching Director Gary Scott told the Gold Coast Bulletin: “We had a chat for a good while and then Tony Massie, Celtic’s soccer academy manager, came over to Australia where we had further detailed conversations about how the partnership will work and what’s expected of each club.

This of course includes a Celtic coaching clinic to be held during the Easter school holidays at our club here at Nerang where local players from any club on the Gold Coast can get expert mentorship and a week of coaching from top Celtic coaching staff.

Celtic are really looking forward to this relationship and they see this as their first tentative steps into Australia.”

Celtic were recently linked with a move for Riley McGree of Adelaide United who is breaking through into the full international side.
