End of the line for Miller

Kenny Miller fears that he’ll be the first victim of savage cuts at Ibrox under Brother Pedro.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has still to hear about a new offer.

Mark Warburton went public with his plea to get Miller a new deal but with less than two months to go on the season there is no sign of a new contract with Brother Pedro more interested in how Kilmarnock set up for corners than giving the fans favourite a new contract.

Speaking yesterday to the Daily Record about whether he had heard about a new deal Miller admitted: “Nothing has moved on at all. There has not been any chat.

With a new manager coming in it’s kind of put that on hold a little bit but, for me, you don’t really get to this stage in the season and not have things sorted. So it could be that I have only got six weeks left at Rangers.

I just want to enjoy it as much as I can by hopefully winning the Scottish Cup and finishing the league strongly.

I’m still hopeful and everybody knows my feelings for the club and where I want to be but at the moment it has not moved forward.

It would hurt me if I was to leave – of course it would. I want to be here and I still feel I have a lot to offer as a player but that’s up to the manager.

He is a man who seems to have strong opinions and views so he will make his own mind up on who he wants here and who he doesn’t. I definitely see myself playing on next season, wherever it may be.”

Despite all the hype and running around it seems that Brother Pedro has looked at the stats of six goals from 25 starts and four substitute appearances and made his mind up on Miller.

Hibs and Nottingham Forest have been linked with the 37-year-old leaving Sevco with Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner to share the burden of leading next season’s #goingfor55 campaign.

Miller’s decision to go public about his contract situation at a media conference to promote a new club initiative isn’t likely to go down well with the Ibrox PR machine with Pedro having to deflect questions on the issue at his media conference to preview tomorrow’s visit to Kilmarnock.
