Jock Brown would have two Sevco stars on the bench if he was to pick an ‘Old Firm’ dream team!

Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace would make it on to Brown’s bench but it’s unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will be selling Leigh Griffiths or Emilio Izaguirre for the players who have mustered two Petrofac Cup medals in the last five seasons.

Brown, who commentates for The Sun on line for live TV matches made it a clean sweep of Celtic players when he was asked to come up with an Old Firm XI.

The tiresome business of trying to link the tribute act with Celtic is exposed in these sort of exercises.

Exposed to true giants of the game like Ross County and Kilmarnock the Championship magic of Martyn Waghorn and and James Tavernier has been shown up.

Earlier this season after a decent half hour against Celtic in December there was a clamour to claim Barrie McKay as the future of Scottish football but as one Celtic fan remarked at the time Bazzer isn’t much more than a poor man’s Gary Mackay-Steven.

After selecting his All Hoops XI Brown claimed in The Sun: “I would definitely have Kenny Miller on the bench, I just couldn’t get him into my XI.

And I would also try to make room for Lee Wallace and Emerson Hyndman, who has been terrific for Rangers since he came in.”

Miller is out of contract at the end of the season and has still to decline the pay cut that he has been offered for next season while Hydman will return to Bournemouth at the end of the season and enjoy a proper summer holiday.

BROWN XI Gordon, Lustig, Boyata, Simunovic, Tierney; Brown, McGregor, Roberts, Armstrong, Sinclair; Dembele.
