Pedro Caixinha has backed down against a player revolt over holiday time.

Last Monday the Sevco boss attempted to cut the players holiday down to nine days but has now given in to allow his tired stars a fortnight in the sun.

Caixinha faces a major battle to win the respect of his players after forcing through a six day week and attempting to force through a change in holiday plans with one months notice.

Sevco had assumed that they would be playing in the Scottish Cup Final on May 27 but after being knocked out by Celtic last Sunday Brother Pedro tried to bring forward the holiday time to get his stars back to prepare for the Europa League opener on June 29.

The fifth best coach in Qatar was furious when details of that move were splashed across the Daily Record but now the Ibrox boss has told a Portuguese newspaper the amended holiday plan.

The Sun reports Caixinha saying: “I will give two weeks of vacation to the squad, from May 22 to June 4, I can not give any more.

If we had to go to the Scottish Cup Final, it would be shorter still, just a week, but we did not.”

Sevco will be unseeded in the first round draw for the Europa League and face a financial clampdown by UEFA after being nominated by the SFA despite having no audited accounts and breaching Financial Fair Play rules in terms of three year losses.
