Holiday time will be at a premium for Brendan Rodgers this summer.

The hoops boss recently grabbed a few days in Dubai but already his summer is packed with significant dates.

At Hampden next Sunday he’s hoping to book a place in the final of the Scottish Cup which takes place on May 27, on June 11 most of his team are on international duty, on June 17 pre-season training begins with the first Champions League qualifiers on July 11/12.

Easter Sunday in Dingwall will be a novelty for the Irishman but enthused by his start to life in the manager’s job at Celtic Rodgers already has his summer all mapped out.

I’ve made sure, this season in particular, that the international breaks are a chance to recover a bit, because obviously pre-season is minimal,” he explained in The Sun. “There are periods when you can get away if you manage it right and delegate your work.

When you’re a leader, the two things you must have above everything else are energy and happiness. Those are the things that drive an organisation and you have to have that.

I always try to make sure I have that ability to inspire enthusiasm so we can go again.

I don’t have much time to recharge my batteries, but that’s OK. I have to be detailed in how I look at it through the season but don’t worry, I’ll be fully charged up and ready.

I won’t need seven months off like the last time. I’ll be ready to come back again. The days of having your phone switched off are gone.

At Swansea I nearly lost a player once because I was halfway up Mount Kilimanjaro and had no signal.

We got to the play-offs and we won, and when I came back, Neil Taylor was nearly signing for Newcastle because they hadn’t been able to contact me on the way up to the top of Kilimanjaro.

So I always make sure I have a good signal, wherever I am!”

Rodgers has been sending out the right signal since he took charge of Celtic 11 months ago.

The message couldn’t be clearer, with a four year contract there are bigger summits than Kilimanjaro for him to conquer at the club he loves.
