The picture that sums up a season

Hampden on Sunday created many great images but there is one picture above all others that captures the spirit of the current Celtic squad.

Brendan Rodgers has created a group of players in harmony with each other all playing for the collective and loving the experience.

For the players that were at the club last season they must be pinching themselves at how the atmosphere has been transformed.

A year ago fans would have looked the other way at players who had consistently let the club down. Zero wins in six Europa League group matches added to semi-final defeats from Ross County and Sevco.

Scott Sinclair’s goal at Hampden sparked at outflow of joy. It wasn’t his best penalty of the season but it crossed the line which is all that matters.

The picture above shows exactly how much it meant to the players- they’ve extended a great season by a month with six more matches to look forward to.

Unless something remarkable happens over the next few weeks that image will be the iconic moment that summarises a season.
