As Celtic fans bask in confirmation beyond all doubt that Glasgow is Green and White, there are two other derby result to share.

Not content with victories in the Glasgow Cup, Scottish Cup and SFA Youth Cup, on Monday night Celtic got the better of the Murray Park All Stars at u-14 and u-13 age groups.

It was a 3-1 win for the Celtic u-13’s while the u-14’s had to settle for a 2-1 win over their city rivals.

It’s often said after a defeat at youth level that the result is secondary, that it’s all about development and gaining experience. Not in Glasgow.

Celtic don’t bring their players up to win, they get them playing football to the highest possible level and nine times out of ten that’s good enough to get results.

In the three high profile wins over seven days Celtic utterly dominated at first team level and u-20 level.

It’s no exaggeration to say that none of their opponents would get close to a place in the Celtic XI.

At Hampden last night Celtic had Regan Hendry on the bench, less than a fortnight ago he scored a hat-trick against Sevco in a 4-0 win in the Development League. He would walk straight into the ‘strongest’ Sevco line up.

Despite the incredible hype the great blue hope which is Billy Gilmour has barely had a kick of the ball in two matches against Celtic, at Hampden he was substituted at half time but it took most fans well into the second half to notice that he’d been hooked.

As apologists clutch at straws and try to apply some spin on recent events the reality is that the gulf between the two clubs is only going to get wider.

It may be that another liquidation is needed for a club from Ibrox to grow naturally instead of meeting the instant demand to ‘beat the Selik’.

Whether the people have the patience for that brutal reality is debatable but there is no doubting that for many years to come Glasgow will continue to be Green and White.
