Hooray Henry it’s Celtic 4-0 Sevco

CELTIC’s Development side crushed the Murray Park All-Stars 4-0 at Cappielow today.

The young hoops title hopes suffered a major set-back when they lost 2-1 to Hibs on Tuesday but three days later they turned on the style to hand out a painful lesson to Graeme Murty.

Consolation is usually reached for by highlighting the ages of the players involved but before they play that card all of the Celtic qualify to play at u-19 level with Kerr McInroy and Jack Aitchison still eligible to play u-17 football.

Rather than concentrate on winning the title Celtic currently have Jamie McCart, Kristoffer Ajer, Aidan Nesbitt, Jamie Lindsay and Joe Thomson out on loan with all of them qualifying to play u-20 football.

Celtic’s one overage player was Logan Bailly who hardly got the work out that was intended while the visitors had Michael O’Halloran in their line up with the former St Johnstone ace turning up on time for the 11am kick off.

Regan Hendry was the star of the show with a hat-trick from midfield completed before the hour mark.

The 19-year-old from Edinburgh opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a half volley from the edge of the box after the visitors had failed to properly clear a corner.

Four minutes later the lead was doubled when Kyle Bradley turned a cross from Calvin Miller into his own net with Hendry adding the third on the half hour mark from a McInroy pass.

Seven minutes into the second half Hendry completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Miller was pulled down by goalkeeper McCrorie.

Just past the hour mark O’Halloran was replaced by Chelsea bound starlet Billy Gilmour who made little impact on the game.

Thanks to McCrorie there was no further scoring in the match with the two teams due to meet later this month in the final of the SFA Youth Cup.

In his plea for season ticket money earlier this week Dave King said that the clubs youth academy was in it’s strongest position in 20 years.
