Hearts fans haven’t had much to be cheery about this season as their club nose dived down the Premiership following the departure of Robbie Neilson.

Things don’t look too clever for Ian Cathro with Ann Budge having a very serious decision to make during the summer- does she stick with Craig Levein’s masterplan and take a hit on season tickets or look at results and decide that it’s time for change.

The reason that that decision becomes such an issue is the Foundation of Hearts. The fans saved their club, have backed it constantly for four years through their cash but you can’t kid punters on when things are badly wrong on the park.

Yesterday at Ibrox was another chapter in suffering. Losing to a team managed by Pedro Caixinha featuring stars such as Joey Garner and Jason Holt must be heart-breaking but there is one area that the Hearts fans can stand tall- they saved their club.

Sitting alongside 30,000 Sevco fans who kept their hands in their pockets and shrugged their shoulders in 2012 the visiting fans at Ibrox weren’t slow to deliver some home truths.

As they continue to pay off the debt that their club ran up the Hearts support know that when the crunch came they didn’t walk away and create fantasy stories about holding company vehicles and other myths.
