True Blue Andy Halliday is the latest victim of Pedro Caixinha’s axe.

The midfielder, who was brought up on the doorstep of the stadium, has been told that he is free to leave and is not part of Caixinha’s plans to lift next season’s SPFL title.

With a lucrative contract that runs until 2020 the ball is in the midfielder’s court with a quick departure highly unlikely.

Halliday moved to Ibrox two years ago after being freed by Bradford City and was immediately embraced as ‘one of our own’.

A below par performance from Scott Brown in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final almost sealed legendary status for the midfielder who was being compared to Xavi and Iniesta as Mark Warburton led the calls for a Scotland cal up.

Gordon Strachan resisted that nonsense but Warbo managed to get a new contract for Halliday with that deal now a millstone around Brother Pedro’s rebuilding plans.

Unless the company are prepared to come up with a pay off it looks like the boy from Copland Road will be lingering around the payroll for some time to come.

In his last two appearances against Celtic Halliday was substituted at half time in the 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat then appeared as a half time sub in the 5-1 Ibrox Demolition Job.
