Ten days after the racist abuse of Scott Sinclair, Wes Foderingham has spoken out about the incident.

The Sevco keeper is an ambassador for Kick It Out but waited for an in-house PR exercise to hit out at the abuse of Sinclair.

The official Sevco website has made no mention of the incident but that’s hardly surprising since the SPFL and SFA have also body-swerved the incidents at Ibrox which saw missiles including a battery thrown at Celtic players and a fan emerge from the Sandy Jardine Stand to approach Scott Brown with no sign of a steward or police officer.

Speaking yesterday to the Daily Mail Foderingham said: “It’s surprising to see in this day and age, but it’s been dealt with accordingly and what we don’t want to happen is for it to reflect on Rangers in any way, shape or form.

The club does a lot of work in the community to try and raise awareness through the Follow With Pride initiative. It’s something the club doesn’t condone.

I haven’t spoken to Scott about what happened, but I’m sure he’s upset about it. It’s a difficult thing to deal with and I hope he is okay.

It happened behind my goal, so it’s difficult, but if there is a bit of hope, it is that it’s an isolated incident.

It’s a positive that the club acted so quickly and took the action that they did. You don’t want to see this type of thing in sport or society.”

After the match a nameless 22 word comment was circulated from the club about the Sinclair incident, perhaps if Dave King, Pedro Caixinha or Kenny Miller had put their name to it it may have carried more weight.

Coverage of yesterday’s PR exercise claims that those involved in the racist abuse and the fan that approached Scott Brown have been banned for life from Ibrox.
