Kieran Tierney’s pride and passion

Kieran Tierney’s emotions poured out when he went up to pick up his Scottish Cup winners medal at Hampden.

The Killing Grounds of Scottish football claimed another victim today when Jayden Stockley ended the match for the young defender after 25 minutes at Hampden.

Revelling in his decision not to award a free kick after Leigh Griffiths had been flattened Bobby Madden never noticed Stockley’s swinging arm connecting with Tierney’s face.

Straight away it was obvious that the young Celt had suffered a serious injury- Madden failed to even award a free kick.

Tierney’s final was over.

In Madden’s previous Celtic fixture he allowed Kenny Miller off with a two footed lunge at Stuart Armstrong and saw nothing wrong with Jason Holt wrapping his legs round Patrick Roberts.

Stockley clearly did his homework and knew that he would go unpunished with a dangerous attack on a Celtic player.

With a suspected broken jaw perhaps Gordon Strachan might wonder why an SFA referee has denied him a key player to face England in a fortnight?
