Police Scotland will have a simple task today identifying one racist who clearly isn’t the brightest.

The mentality of someone who behaves like that is concerning, recording it on video then posting it on social media just highlights the stupidity of the individual. Judging by his age he has almost certainly come through some sort of anti-racist education programme.

Walking through McCuhill’s pub in Glasgow city centre singing to himself and clearly audible this person shows how bold and comfortable racists are in Scotland of 2017.

While the individual needs identified and punished a far bigger problem is highlighted.

After Scott Sinclair was racially abused at Ibrox the silence across Scottish football was deafening.

A nameless 22 word comment was quickly circulated but not a word was produced on any of the social media platforms by the club.

The SFA, SPFL and PFA Scotland remained silent while the various anti racism groups attached to football looked the other way.

If the policy is not to draw attention to the problem then it’s not working. If the solution is educating the next generation it’s not working.

With the individual highlighted on television abusing Sinclair getting a slap on the wrist from the courts and an 18 month football banning order the message is crystal clear.

He’s made of strong stuff but would it take the departure of Scott Sinclair to highlight another aspect of Scotland’s shame or is that the aim?
