Angry Preston North End have denied rumours that they are interested in Joey Garner.

The Championship side agreed a £1.8m deal for the hitman last August as Mark Warburton applied the final touch to his #goingfor55 squad.

Pedro Caixinha is keen to get rid of the deadwood that he inherited with reports that Preston were interested in getting Garner back.

With part of the transfer fee likely to be outstanding returning the striker to Deepdale would seem to be a simple solution but not as far as Preston are concerned.

The Lancashire Evening Post stated: “Over the weekend, PNE found themselves linked with a move for the striker who is reportedly deemed surplus to requirement at Ibrox. But Deepdale sources were swift to knock down the story which appeared in a Scottish newspaper.

Applying some realism to claims that Sevco lining up a number of big money deals the report adds: “The word from Glasgow is that Caixinha needs to sell in order to raise transfer funds and Garner is among a list of players who could be allowed to move on.”

Garner and upto a dozen other misfits are available for transfer but no serious offers have been made for any Warbo signings.

With a week to go until his side restart pre-season training Brother Pedro has still to bring in a single player for his side’s Europa League campaign which starts in four weeks time.
