Stockley and those elbows

It wasn’t really a surprise, when Jayden Stockley and his swinging elbows are around there are usually victims.

Having targeted Kieran Tierney at Pittodrie earlier this month and got away with it there was no way he wasn’t going to repeat the stunt at Hampden.

Clearly an expert in the dark art the Aberdeen forward was prepared to take one for the team knowing that at worst he’d pick up a yellow card- more likely he’d go unpunished.

With Bobby Madden in charge Stockley played the percentage game and came up trumps. He managed to put Tierney out of the match and escaped even having a foul awarded against him.

For 15 minutes or so Celtic looked off the boil, Callum McGregor filled in brilliantly at left back but the free flowing football that has been a feature of the season was absent.

Fortunately around goal Stockley was unable to cash in, in an ironic twist Tierney’s replacement Tom Rogic scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

Stockley may face retrospective punishment, Madden’s career will continue to soar.
