Who can step in for Scott Brown?

The Celtic team will have an unfamiliar look about it tomorrow with Scott Brown posted missing.

Suspension will rob Brendan Rodgers of his inspirational captain who once again showed his priceless value to the team in the back-to-back wins over Sevco.

As well as being an inspiration and leader Brown is in exceptional form. This season he has grown stronger, improved his ball control and introduced a range of passes that had never been previously known.

It just goes to show what can happen when you get an invite for dinner at Brendan’s gaff.

Throughout the season Brown has been a fixture in the centre of midfield which is the ideal position to play your skipper.

A variety of players have been alongside him this season but it’s always been Brown and AN Other.

Tomorrow and against Aberdeen next Friday that will change giving Rodgers the opportunity to see what other options he has in the middle of the park.

EBOUE KOUASSI

The teenager has been in and around the side over the last two months but has still to complete a 90 minutes.

Against Partick Thistle last month, in the first match after the SPFL was clinched, the kid from the Ivory Coast started to show the ability that prompted a £2.8m deal.

That night Rodgers made five changes to his regular side, slotting in alongside Callum McGregor tomorrow should do him the world of good, offer a good taste of life in Scottish football and the chance to put down a marker for the rest of the season.

LIAM HENDERSON

Possibly the unluckiest player in Brendan Rodgers squad but clearly someone that the manager has time for.

After returning from Hibs with a Scottish Cup winners medal is opportunities have been very limited.

Rodgers has however proved willing to bring him into the side and give him worthwhile starting roles rather than a run of 10 or 15 minute stints.

Henderson can play in a range of midfield positions, if given the chance alongside McGregor he’ll be keen to leave an impression.

NIR BITTON

It’s been a season of more lows than highs which could end in the summer with a move to pastures new.

Bitton enjoyed a decent run in the side after the winter break but that came to a halt following the 1-1 draw with Sevco in January.

With fierce competition for his position in the side it’s difficult to see him holding off the other contenders but until a suitable bid comes in he’s likely to be used when required by Rodgers.

STUART ARMSTRONG

Up until Tom Rogic got injured in December, Armstrong was developing a very impressive partnership alongside Brown which still gave him the opportunity to push forward in search of goals.

Since the turn of the year he’s been used in a more attacking role and looks equally at home in either central midfield position.

Slipping Armstrong back into a deeper role will allow Tom Rogic to return to his preferred position, wherever you play Armstrong your assured of a quality performance- after a couple of goal-less performances he’ll be looking to rediscover his scoring touch.
