Chris Sutton has called out Kris Boyd for his savage attack on Scottish football.

The Kilmarnock striker has been launching a media career based on almost constant criticism of Celtic.

Despite having the most talented manager that Scottish football has enjoyed in the last 20 years it seems that any credit given to Celtic is qualified and offered grudgingly.

Among the least sensible suggestions that the Kilmarnock striker has made was the call for David Murray to take charge of Sevco despite being the architect of Rangers’ route to liquidation.

Sutton wasn’t slow to slaughter Celtic last season but has acknowledged the brilliance of Rodgers and the exciting brand of football that his side are playing.

Switching focus to Boyd, Sutton explained in the Daily Record: “They are super talented and their performances at home and in Europe made a mockery of Kris Boyd’s comments about Scottish football’s standards never being lower.

That was disgraceful, if you ask me. It’s nothing like that. It’s bad enough getting kicked by those in the south without one of the game’s own lobbing out such severe criticism.”

Sutton and Boyd often share a studio with BT Sports and BBC Five Live.

The former Celtic striker will miss the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden due to covering the FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea for BT Sport.
