Jack Aitchison staked a claim for a place on the bench against Aberdeen on Saturday by scoring a hat-trick against the Dons u-17 side today.

With Moussa Dembele missing out through injury Aitchison is the next available striker behind Leigh Griffiths.

Today’s 6-0 win over league leaders Aberdeen puts Michael O’Halloran’s side in place to clinch the title at home to Hamilton on Friday assuming that Accies win tonight against Hibs.

The win at Aberdeen, who started the match as league leaders, was the fifth win in ten days for the hoops as they catch up on their fixture backlog.

After Dembele got injured in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup Celtic could have withdrawn Aitchison from the u-17 European Championship Finals in Croatia.

Brendan Rodgers decided that he could allow the 17-year-old to travel with Scotland but may decide that he needs another striker in his squad for Saturday’s Hampden clash.

CELTIC: McAdams; Duffy, Welsh, Deas, Church; Marku, McInroy; Campbell, Henderson, Diver; Aitchison
