Hamilton 1-2 Celtic

|

Celtic and Hamilton Accies played out the final u17 game of the season at the Superseal Stadium with the match coming to life in the final quarter after a distinct end of season feeling.

There wasn’t much of an edge to the match with both sides involved in a heavy programme of matches over the last few weeks but goals midway through the second half from Tommy Caffrey and Robbie Deas.

Hamilton had beaten Celtic 3-0 at Lennoxtown last Friday with the hoops bouncing back to win 3-1 away to Sevco on Monday night but the effect of four matches in eight days was obvious with flat the best way to describe the performance.

Dylan Forrest came in for the injured Max Potter at right-back with the Celtic side otherwise unchanged from the side that had beaten Sevco two nights earlier.

Ciaran Diver saw an early shot at goal slide wide but suffered a knock in the process and was replaced at half-time.

Caffrey came in off the left flank to replace Diver but it was from the left that he opened the scoring in the 70th minute showing neat footwork to evade a defender then slip a low shot under the advancing keeper.

Seven minutes later Celtic doubled their lead when Deas headed home a from a Kerr McInroy free kick on the right but Accies quickly pulled a goal back when Ryan Mullen was unable to hold on to a shot from close range.

CELTIC: Mullen; Forrest, Welsh, Deas, Church; Marku (Robertson), McInroy (Kennedy 80); Campbell (McGrath 83), Henderson (Paterson 67), Caffery Diver (Savoury 46)
