Amido Balde is determined to return to playing after surviving a blood clot that could have turned out to be fatal.

In March the former Celtic striker was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism which requires a six month recuperation period while on loan at Tondela.

Balde has two seasons left on his contract with Maritimo who, according to Noticias will consult with their medical staff before deciding if the striker can resume his career next season.

In 2013 Celtic paid out a fee of £1.5m to sign the striker from Vitoria Guimaraes but it quickly became clear that he was unlikely to fit in with Celtic’s style of play under Neil Lennon.

Although he did score a wonder goal while out on loan at Beveren his Celtic contract was terminated in 2015 with the striker unable to recapture his goal touch during spells at Metz in France and back in Portugal with Maritimo.
