Andy Halliday is confident that his Ibrox days are far from over.

The true blue midfielder was born and brought up on Copland Road but is about to sign a season long loan with Azerbaijan giants FC Gabala.

Pedro Caixinha dumped Halliday out of his first team squad with the players’ agent quickly coming up with a move to the oil rich country on the edge of Asia.

Halliday is under contract with Sevco until 2020 with no one believing that Caixinha will still be in charge in three years time.

I think the loan deal suits the club as well, which made me a bit happier as well,” the midfielder told The Sun. “I hope that it’s not the end of my Rangers career, but only time will tell.

I worked very hard to get to Rangers so I certainly won’t be giving up on my place easily.

Last season, my performances from January onwards were miles off it but if I can re-find the form I showed in the first four or five months of the season then I believe I can force my way back into the manager’s plans.

I’m first to admit my form wasn’t good enough in the second half of last season. But hopefully if I can find the form I know I’m capable of then I can fight my way back.

If it’s up to me then my Rangers career isn’t over.”

While Halliday has quickly sorted out a new club upto half a dozen unwanted stars remain on the Ibrox payroll.

Barrie McKay has been ordered to train with the youth squad while Harry Forrester, Rob Kiernan and Micky O’Halloran are on the outside looking in on Pedro’s Latin Allstars.

Martyn Waghorn has 12 months left on his current contract with the club hoping to interest Nottingham Forest in a move for James Tavernier.
