Brendan Rodgers is looking for ONE summer signing.

Last weekend the hoops signed Jonny Hayes from Aberdeen in a £1.3m deal which will represent 50% of Celtic’s summer transfer dealing.

In January Rodgers brought in Eboue Kouassi from Krasnodar and is happy to take his time to bring in the right player.

Discussing his transfer plans the Irishman told Celtic TV: “There are two players in particular. Jonny was one and there is another I would hope we can get in.

Then I just want to get through the qualifiers with the players who have got us through, knowing they are a year better on.

I also want to just wait and see because I know the market in England and the rest of Europe well.

I know how it works. It’s later on in the window before players of real quality become available. I want to bring the best possible players into here.”

Getting Stuart Armstrong onto a new contract is a priority for the Celtic boss who takes his squad to Austria on Monday for three warm up matches.

After returning from Austria the hoops head to Dublin to play Shamrock Rovers on July 8 before the first competitive match on the season away to Linfield on July 14.

The play-off round of the Champions League takes place on August 15/16 and 22/23, UEFA allows one player to be registered the day before the first leg. The transfer window closes on Thursday August 31 giving clubs a week to complete business knowing what level they will be playing at in Europe.
