Barrie McKay is the latest star to be given the cold shoulder by Pedro Caixinha.
While money appears to be no problem when it comes to imports from Mexico and Portugal McKay was given a derisory offer to extend his contract beyond 2018.
Now according to a report in the Daily Mail the winger has been ordered to train with the u-20 squad although they have no fixtures as they await for friendlies to be organised for Graeme Murty’s travelling circus.
McKay’s downfall has been spectacular. Following an impressive half hour against Celtic in December he was touted as a possible £6m signing for RB Leipzig but that speculation failed to materialise.
Now with a year left on his contract he can run the clock down on his contract knowing that in January he can sign for a non Scottish side on a pre-contract agreement.
Caixinha is already attempting to get Micky O’Halloran, Harry Forrester and Andy Halliday off the pay roll with little prospect of any incoming transfer fees.
