The not so subtle transfer triangle of the SPFL, Sevco and Ladbrokes has been highlighted with a newly launched award of Signing of the Week.

With Level 5 looking after publicity for all three organisations it’s no surprise that Carlos Pena has scooped the first award.

According to the script issued with the award the chunky midfielder was outstanding for Mexico in 2013 and 2014 which was about the last time that Georgios Samaras kicked a ball in anger.

These awards mean next to nothing but they do send out a not so subliminal message that anything Ibrox is superior to anything happening elsewhere.

There has of course, over the last week, been another major transfer that might have caught the attention of the awards panel.

An internal transfer, over £1m for a current internationalist, a player that was shortlisted for the Scottish PFA Player of the Year Award but Jonny Hayes isn’t a ‘Mexican Maestro’.
