Pedro Caixinha is looking to get rid of ten more players from the best squad in Scotland.

At the end of last season the fifth best coach in Qatar complained about leaks within Ibrox informing the media of his pre-season plans and punishments to Micky O’Halloran.

Caixinha however seems to have no problem giving away details to the Portuguese media as he attempts to create a profile in his homeland.

Andy Halliday became the fourth player to be ditched after he agreed a season long loan to Azerbaijan joining Clint Hill, Joe Garner and Pip Senderos in exile.

Regardless of how many players he manages to bring in Caixinha will have to rely on last season’s duds as he attempts to deliver the domestic treble and European glory.

Picking up on an interview from Portugal the Daily Record reports the Sevco boss saying: “We identified a group of 13 or 14 players who did not have the requirements to belong to a great team like Rangers.

“At the same time we identified a list of ten players we wanted, not forgetting the need to have a hard core of important Scottish players.

“The priority was to hire players of international ability and others that we already knew through our previous experiences in other club and countries.

“The squad will be smaller, but more competitive. I had bad experiences in Leiria and Nacional in previous jobs where too many changes were made and I don’t want to risk that.

“So we will have a squad of 21 or 22 players, with the rest made up of young prospects who are coming through.

“The club is in a transitional phase. The club has great ambitions, but we need to return to winning at domestic and European level.

“Our remit is restructure the largest club in the world in terms of titles and the prospects are very encouraging.”

Rob Kiernan, O’Halloran and Joe Dodoo were left out of the squad registered with UEFA for the Europa League while Barrie McKay has been ordered to train with the Murray Park All Stars.

Defeat next week in Luxembourg is likely to result in Dave King searching google for the Portuguese equivalent of ‘I accept your resignation Pedro’.
