Sevco chief Stewart Robertson has been forced into an embarrassing climbdown over his club’s five year old history.

A new shirt sponsorship deal with 32 Red would normally be accompanied by a high profile media event with the sponsors name featuring all over print, digital and video coverage.

In line with their low key signing policy Sevco kept the sponsorship deal quiet with a statement appearing on the club website.

Initially Robbo claimed: “We are delighted to announce an extended shirt sponsorship deal with 32Red.

They have been with Rangers every step of the way as we progressed from the lower leagues back to the top flight and we thank them for their support.

The club has enjoyed a productive partnership since 2014 and we are pleased they will remain our official shirt sponsor.

I have no doubt we will build on our association with 32Red in the next two seasons.”

It seems that Robbo has forgotten about Tennents in season 2012/13 and Blackthorn the following season as Sevco battled their way into the Championship where 32Red appeared on the season for the 2014/15 season.

Updating the announcement the Sevco website claimed: “We are delighted to announce an extended shirt sponsorship deal with 32Red.

The Club has enjoyed a productive partnership since 2014 and we are pleased they will remain our official shirt sponsor. I have no doubt we will build on our association with 32Red in the next two seasons.”

With Sports Direct and Puma locked in legal disputes Sevco are expected to be wearing the same kit next season with 32 Red picking up the shirt sponsorship deal by default.

None of the players signed as part of Pedro Caixinha’s revolution have been pictured in a club shirt.
