Celtic are set to visit Dublin in pre-season for a friendly against Shamrock Rovers on July 8.

It’ll be the first time that Brendan Rodgers has taken Celtic to Ireland although he did face up to the hoops in 2013 when a goal from Amido Balde earned Neil Lennon’s side the Dublin Decider.

The match against Rovers will sell out their 6,000 capacity Tallagh Stadium and give Celtic their last work out ahead of the first Champions League qualifier on July 11/12.

Rovers will enter the Europa League qualifiers on June 29 with League of Ireland champions Dundalk potential opponents for Celtic.

Rodgers is currently on holiday with pre-season training starting on June 19, Celtic’s international players will join up a week later with a training visit to Austria expected to be announced soon.

Once again the pre-season build up will be geared towards the Champions League qualifiers with Celtic required to get through three rounds to reach the group phase.
