Stan Collymore couldn’t hide his delight at Celtic’s Champions League win over Linfield.
The life long Aston Villa fan has developed his affection for the hoops through social media as his boyhood leanings towards a club from Ibrox have weaned on the reality of their support.
Collymore is a an unashamed English patriot but that hasn’t closed his eyes to other issues in the game and is never afraid to confront the problems at the heart of the game.
The BBC pundit was disgusted, but not surprised by the racist abuse aimed at Scott Sinclair from Belfast, an issue that was barely commented on elsewhere as the matter was swept under the carpet to keep the peace.
Into that environment Celtic ventured last night with Collymore going the extra mile with his ‘neutral’ observations.

Makes sense, giving a player a yellow card while having a wee bottle of buckfast chucked at him. ???? pic.twitter.com/OdKP33uWbp

“So liberate your minds
And give your soul expression.
Open up your hearts,
I’ll sing for you this song”??

After the match Linfield issued a statement praising their fans and making no mention of the racist abuse of Sinclair.
