Ronny Deila isn’t expecting a phone call from Brendan Rodgers.

Next week Celtic face Rosenborg on Champions League duty with Rodgers’ predecessor back in the Norwegian league with Valerenga.

A generation or two ago Deila would be able to get the low down from Deila but with modern scouting techniques Rodgers is already well upto speed with the Rosenborg squad.

During the last few months most of the Rosenborg players will have been looked at as potential Celtic signings with both legs against Dundalk studied closely.

Speaking to the Daily Record about a potential spy role Deila said: “I am sure Brendan and the team of coaches will have good control over Rosenborg and what they are going to do in the matches.

Rosenborg do not play with many secrets. Brendan and his staff will be able to read what they do.

They want to play their system and ask you if you can control it.

They will look to cause problems to Celtic in that way and not by trying to be clever or changing their ways. You know how they are going to play week on week.”

Rosenborg have no fixture this weekend but have played 17 matches in the Norwegian league where they have recorded 10 wins, 5 draws and 2 defeats.

Kare Ingebrigtsen has been managing Rosenborg since 2014 having previously been in charge of Bodo Glimt for seven seasons.
