UEFA have appointed rookie ref Tiago Martins to take charge of the Celtic v Rosenborg match.

The 37-year-old Portuguese official has never refereed any level of Champions League match and has just three Europa League qualifiers on his CV.

In his last UEFA match Martins took charge of Llandudno Town’s 2-1 defeat from IFK Gothenburg a year ago.

The UEFA website hasn’t announced who will be the Referee Supervisor or Match Commander for the match.

After the charges that Celtic were hit with in the game against Linfield there will be as many eyes off the pitch as on it.

Celtic have closed down the standing section that hosted the Green Brigade for the match with attention taken away from events on the park.

While the hoops were seeing off the Belfast part-timers on a 6-0 aggregate Rosenborg reached the third qualifying round by beating Dundalk 3-2 after extra time.

The winners of the Celtic-Rosenborg match goes into the Champions League play-off with the losers dropping into the Europa League play-off.
