After playing against Shamrock Rovers on Saturday afternoon Leigh Griffiths turned his attention to boxing.

With Celtic flying back to Glasgow Airport after the match the striker popped along to the Braehead Arena to take in the bout between Josh Taylor and Ohara Davis.

Sitting ringside Griffiths joy at Taylor’s seventh round knockout was obvious to everyone watching on television.

Taylor, who is from Prestonpans, won the gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, is now in the top 15 super-lightweights in the world and on course for a world title fight.

The 26-year-old is managed by Barry McGuigan and is hoping to fight at Edinburgh Castle in the future.

Griffiths will be back in training today turning his attention to Celtic’s Champions League qualifier against Linfield on Friday.

After four pre-season friendlies the competitive action begins in Belfast as Brendan Rodgers side attempt to get through three qualifying rounds to reach the group phase of the Champions League.
