Bruno Alves has revealed that he has come to Sevco to add to his medal collection.
When he became one of Pedro Caixinha’s first signings expectations were high about the veteran Portuguese defender.
Since Sevco crashed out of the Europa League to Progres Niederkorn expectations have gone through the roof with the 25-year-old and Graham Dorrans expected to transform the squad from a shambles into superstars.
While stopping short of the comments that have turned his manager into a laughing stock Alves made it clear that he’s not moved to Glasgow to trail in behind Aberdeen in the race for second place.
“We need to think about ourselves, about Rangers and what we can do,” he told The Sun. “The way we can prepare for the Premiership and so on.
“I came here to win. At almost all of the clubs I played for I won and this is my expectation for Rangers. I hope that we can do something good.
“We need to believe we can shorten the distance to Celtic. This is a new season and you need to believe you can be better and achieve new things.”
Alves left Cagliari after they finished in 11th place in the 20 team Serie A, only the bottom two teams, Palermo and Pescara conceded more goals.
The 35-year-old is expected to play in tomorrow’s friendly against Marseilles who will be using their visit to Ibrox to prepare for Thursday’s Europa League tie at home to Oostende.
