Erik Sviatchenko’s agent Allan Bak is trying to engineer a move away from Celtic.

The defender lost his place in the Celtic side in January and was linked with a move on the final day of the transfer window.

During the second half of the season Sviatchenko was strictly third choice central defender but was given a chance in pre-season when Dedryck Boyata was ruled out for three months with injury.

The Dane played for 90 minutes away to Linfield but was on the bench for the return match and reported injured for last night’s clash with Rosenborg which saw Kristoffer Ajer step in to make his debut alongside Jozo Simunovic.

After reports of Besiktas being interested in taking his client on a season long loan appeared in the Turkish media Bak was readily available to The Sun.

He said: “There is some interest in Turkey and there is some interest from England, but I do not want to say which clubs.

There might be something happening to Erik. He was close to being sold this winter.”

Celtic won’t entertain a season long loan but you get the impression a permanent transfer could be completed despite the defender being under contract until 2020.

Ajer picked up the man of the match award on his debut last night and slotted in well alongside Simunovic.
