Griffiths boost for Rodgers

Leigh Griffiths is winning his battle to be fit to face Rosenborg on Wednesday.

According to a report in The Sun the striker is making good progress with his calf strain and on course to give the hoops a much needed boost.

Brendan Rodgers went into the first leg without the suspended, and injured Griffiths, and knowing that Moussa Dembele will be out for at least a month with a hamstring injury.

Tom Rogic played in a ‘false 9’ position but against a side clearly ahead of Celtic in terms of fitness the system never really worked.

Rodgers will take a strong squad to Sunderland tomorrow for a friendly as he looks for his side to hit top gear in Norway.

Other than a late knock to Scott Brown the Celtic boss had no further injuries to report from the first leg but with the tie goal-less Celtic will have to find the net in Norway to reach the play-off round.

Teenager Jack Aitchison was missing from the Celtic side that played Newcastle last night in the Whitby Town Challenge Trophy and is expected to be involved at Sunderland.
