Heart-broken David Healy has conceded the 2017/18 SPFL title to Celtic.
The former Rangers (IL) striker follows in the footsteps of Ibrox ambassador in admitting that the hoops are too strong for Pedro Caixinha’s dream team.
The fifth best coach in Qatar has brought in five nine new faces to Ibrox in a bid to halt Brendan Rodgers taking Celtic to a seventh consecutive title.
All the hype was demolished by Progres Niederkorn with Caixinha taking a vow of silence after being humilated by the fourth best team in Luxembourg.
Healy watched Celtic toy with his Linfield mob on Friday night and has warned that the hoops will run away with the SPFL title.
“This Celtic team are just so clinical with the chances they get,” he told The Sun. “They don’t let teams off the hook when they’re on top.
“You look at the clock thinking 15 minutes gone, 16, 17 – you count the minutes trying to get to 20 then 40.
“Sadly we couldn’t do that on Friday night but Celtic are always liable to open you up. They’ve hammered better teams than us last season in Scotland so to get a 2-0 defeat is a positive result.
“I hope it’s dressed up like that, I hope it’s not seen as Linfield being no-hopers. Celtic will do the same as they did last season in Scotland.
“I have no doubt they’ll run away with the league again. I expect them to be just as rampant.”
Celtic won last season’s title by finishing 30 points ahead of Aberdeen who were nine ahead of Sevco in third place.
The hoops begin their defence of the title at home to Hearts on August 5 with the tribute act going to Motherwell the following day before hosting Hibs and Hearts at Ibrox.
