Four weeks on from losing out to the fourth best team in Luxembourg Waldo believes that Sevco are on course for their first ever Premiership title.
Sevco finished last season 39 points behind Celtic but it seems that three friendly matches have transformed the Ibrox squad.
Over the last fortnight Waldo has been told about how inspirational a leader Bruno Alves is but the former Hearts favourite has hung on to the armband of dignity and was put in front of Sky Sports on the eve of the new season.
Asked if he felt that he shared a dressing room with potential title winners he claimed: “Of course, we’ve got to have that mindset.
“You wouldn’t be turning up to work every day for training and joining a club of Rangers’ stature if you didn’t think that way.
“We’ve certainly got a good bit of positivity in the dressing room and we’re certainly going to try and push on this season and close that gap.
“As a squad, we have been encouraged by the last ten days.
“Our last three results have been better and there’s been a bit more positive belief within the group.”
Waldo added: “Obviously, we suffered a bit of humiliation early on and we were brave enough to face up to that.
“It was all about how we responded and we recognise there is a long way to go but one thing we want to do is start the season with a win, which is something we didn’t manage to do last year.
“We’ve got to make sure that our mindset doesn’t change at all, albeit we suffered a lot last year.
“We recognise the strength of Celtic, but we can’t let that deviate from our mindset as Rangers players.
“We want to play and want to try and win every competition we enter, so we know we must do a whole lot better than we did last season.”
Sevco start their league campaign away to Motherwell on Sunday followed by a visit from Neil Lennon’s Hibs to Ibrox.
With no sign that Dave King will comply with the Court of Session ruling from the Takeover Appeal Board it looks like the tribute act will be dependant on soft loans with no prospect of a share issue to finance the club.
