Former wonder boy Barrie McKay is set to join Nottingham Forest for £500,000!

Reports of interest from elsewhere have failed to materialise with the tribute act repeating a favoured trick of the liquidated club in selling players to a former manager.

Mark Warburton gave Baz his big chance after loan stints at Morton and Raith Rovers and is now poised to revive his career at the City Ground.

In January it was claimed that RB Leipzig were preparing a £6m bid for McKay.

The speed with which the deal is being completed would suggest that there are major cash flow problems at Ibrox.

Recent reports of interest from Cardiff City and others has turned out to be fake news with the club’s first ever goal scorer slipping south on the day of the Europa League match with Progres Niederkorn.

The £500,000 fee matches the price that Warburton paid Sevco for Lewis McLeod when he was in charge of Brentford in January 2015.

Sevco are still hopeful of completing deals to sign Graham Dorrans, Jamie Walker and John Eustace.
