Barrie McKay has spoken out about the inhumane treatment that he received from Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox.

The green booted wing wizard joined Nottingham Forest in a £400,000 deal earlier this month after being given the cold shoulder by the fifth best coach in Qatar.

Being excluded from training, early starts then being forced to train with the Rising Stars from the Murray Park conveyor belt proved too much to take for McKay.

Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham he revealed: “There was a change of manager and his opinion was different.

“I wasn’t being treated the way any human being should be treated, but that’s football and I had to move on.”

Asked if it had been a difficult decision to quit Ibrox he revealed: “Not really at the time, with the way things went with the manager and the way I was being treated and stuff.

“It made the decision easy for when the gaffer got on the phone and he was obviously a big factor in me coming here and working with him again.

“When he came into Rangers, it was a big stage of my development and he helped me improve as a player.

“The way things happened up there is more disappointing. I spoke to my family, spoke to my girlfriend, spoke to my agent and I think it was just the right time.

“I guess that’s football, but I’m a big boy and will get on with it.”

A number of McKay’s former team-mates are believed to be getting the cold shoulder in a bid to force them out of Ibrox.

Despite inheriting the best squad in Scotland Caixinha told a Portuguese newspaper that he was looking to get rid of 14 players.

With the exception of Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans, all of Caixinha’s signings have been from Portugal and Mexico and are believed to be on significantly better deals than stars such as Kenny Miller and Jason Holt.
