Stewart Milne has told Aberdeen fans to forget about a decade of being cheated and move on for the sake of Scottish football!

The Aberdeen chairman was speaking in the aftermath of the club’s impressive win over Siroki Brijeg with views that are bound to incense supporters.

After Celtic the Aberdeen support has been the most outspoken about the decade of cheating from Rangers (IL) and the indifference of the football authorities to deal with it in the same way that Spartans, Dunfermline, Dundee United and Livingston were punished.

Earlier this month the Supreme Court confirmed that Rangers (IL) hadn’t operated EBTs but were simply making additional payments to players without deducting National Insurance and Income Tax.

For a decade Rangers (IL) and their fans gloated and lorded it over Aberdeen supporters who were watching a club that paid HMRC in full and honoured their bank debts.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the decade of cheating Milne said: “We all have to work hard in getting everyone focused and pulling together. What has happened in the past has happened. Hopefully, there have been a lot of lessons learned by coming through it.

‘Our stance is that we have to be led by the work the two organisations are doing, the SPFL and SFA. Both engaged top-level QCs to give advice on the situation and they have put out very clear statements on the position.”

Perhaps if the SPFL and SFA published the questions and answers put to the Q Cs supporters may be prepared to move on.

However after the SPL failed to explain why the start of the Nimmo Smith enquiry was switched from July 98 to November 2000 supporters are rightly suspicious of clubs and individuals trying to cover up for previous decisions.

Milne added: “We can’t end up spending another five years looking back and trying to redo what has taken place.

We have to focus 100 per cent of our time on where we can take Scottish football over the next five to ten years.

Let’s get all the clubs back together. We can effect a real change in football at domestic, European and international level, particularly if we can get the SFA and SPFL working more effectively together.”

While Neil Doncaster, Stewart Regan, Dave King, Paul Murray, Andrew Dickson and Alastair Johnston continue to have a say in the governance of Scottish football fans will demand action and change.

Clearly Milne doesn’t want his friends and colleagues at Ibrox and Hampden being called to account leaving himself open to the suspicions of the Aberdeen support.
